Majority backs proposal for age restriction on social media platforms - Majority Prefer Set Minimum Age for Social Media Usage, According to Recent Poll

In a representative survey conducted by the ifo Institute in Munich, Germany, from May to June 20XX, the opinions of nearly 3,000 adults and over 1,000 young people were gathered regarding the use of social media, mobile phones in schools, and the inclusion of artificial intelligence in the curriculum.

The survey revealed that a majority of adults (64% for primary schools and 63% for secondary schools) and young people (57% for primary schools and 58% for secondary schools) would ban mobile phones in schools. This sentiment was reversed when it came to social media, with 68% of young people expressing a preference for living in a world with social media, compared to 40% of adults.

Interestingly, a significant number of both adults (47%) and young people (34%) would prefer a world without social media. The concerns expressed by both groups include impacts on mental health and academic performance.

The survey also indicated that a majority of young people (78%) and adults (58%) spend more than an hour daily on social media on weekdays. This statistic was not found to have a direct connection with the desire for the inclusion of artificial intelligence in the curriculum, as 66% of young people expressed a wish for its inclusion, but no specific new fact about its implementation was mentioned in the survey.

The ifo Institute's survey, focusing on the minimum age for access to social media, as well as adult and youth opinions on mobile phone use in schools and the use of artificial intelligence in school planning, was conducted in Munich, Germany. The results of this survey highlight the complex relationship that Germans, both young and old, have with social media and mobile phone usage in educational settings.
