Makeshift Yogi Ramdev's Patanjali Strikes Back Against the Alleged "Mafia," Following Reports of a Ban on 5 Medicines in Uttarakhand
In a recent development, the Uttarakhand government has issued an order banning the production of five medicines by Patanjali Ayurved, a leading pharmaceutical company. The medicines in question are advertised as treatments for high blood pressure, diabetes, goitre, glaucoma, and high cholesterol.
The order, issued by Dr GCS Jangpangi, certificate police officer, Uttarakhand Ayurvedic and Unani Providers, accuses Patanjali of deceptive promotions. However, Patanjali Ayurved has not yet commented on the specific allegations made in the order and claims it has not received a duplicate of the order.
The ban on these five Patanjali Ayurved products has been reported in several newspapers on Thursday. The action was a response to a complaint filed by Kerala-based eye doctor KV Babu in July. KV Babu sent an additional complaint to the State Licensing Authority (SLA) on October 11 through email.
Patanjali Ayurved employs over 500 scientists in the production of its products and states all its products and medicines are made following recommended guidelines, legal procedures, and global standards. The company has accused an "anti-Ayurveda medication mafia" of a conspiracy and has threatened legal action if the Uttarakhand authority does not rectify the error or penalize those involved in the conspiracy.
The Ayurveda and Unani Licensing Authority in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has ordered Divya Pharmacy to stop production of Madhugrit, Eyegrit, Thyrogrit, BPgrit, and Lipidom, which are part of Patanjali's series of ayurveda health products. The company states it has suffered institutional loss due to the ban on its products.
It is important to note that the order is yet to be challenged in court, and the ban on these five Patanjali Ayurved products is still in effect. The company has not yet commented on the specific allegations made in the order, and the letter circulated in the media about the ban on Patanjali Ayurved's products was conspiratorially written and not provided to Patanjali Sansthan.
