Malta hosts SiGMA Poker Tour, declaring a fresh Main Event Champion

The SiGMA Poker Tour Malta Main Event, held at Portomaso Casino, has come to a thrilling conclusion with Davide Iannaco emerging victorious. The Italian poker player took home a sum of €28,500 and the coveted trophy.

The final table of the tournament consisted of nine players, including Tomasz Brzezinski, fresh off a near €500,000 score in the EPT Barcelona Main Event. Brzezinski battled it out with Iannaco, but the latter managed to come from the middle of the pack to clinch the victory.

Iannaco's path to the top was not easy. He faced stiff competition from the likes of Agostino Vitiello (Italy) in 8th place, earning €3,600, and Jon Persent (Norway) in 5th place, who took home €7,500 after being eliminated by Brzezinski.

The Italian poker newcomer, however, showed his resilience, battling back from a heads-up deficit against Brzezinski to secure the win. Christopher Convery (South Africa) and Terje Bremseth (Norway) also put up a good fight, finishing in 7th and 9th places, respectively, earning €4,300 and €3,000.

Romain Gachet (France) was another top contender, taking the chip lead during the second session and remaining a force to be reckoned with until the final table. He eventually finished in 3rd place, pocketing €12,800.

The tournament also saw some unexpected twists and turns. Micaela Arcusin woke up with a premium during the final table, only to be eliminated shortly after. Salvatore Incardona was also eliminated in a dramatic hand during the final table.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, the SiGMA Poker Tour has kicked off with an unspecified winner.

Davide Iannaco, overjoyed with his first live tournament victory, expressed his happiness about winning the SiGMA Poker Tour Malta Main Event. Interestingly, Iannaco has previously won several cycling races and competitions, primarily in Italian amateur and semi-professional cycling events.

Ashley Scott bagged twice and secured two minimum cashes of €600 during Day 2. However, Sebastian Mortensen, the Day 2 chip leader, ultimately fell in 11th place. Remy Hordan also had a tough day, being eliminated in a brutal beat versus Massimo Rizzoglio.

In the end, it was Davide Iannaco who stood tall, adding a new trophy and a significant sum of money to his collection. His victory serves as a testament to his determination and skill, and it's clear that we'll be seeing more of this rising star in the world of poker.
