Arrestee in Hildesheim Faces Charges for Bribe with Coffee and Assault with Crowbar, Age 40 - Man accused of poisoning coffee and using a broken iron for assault in Hildesheim faces trial, age 40
In the courthouse of Hildesheim, a 40-year-old farmer stands trial, accused of a shocking incident that occurred in the Lower Saxon village of Edemissen earlier this year. The man is charged with attempted murder and manslaughter, following an alleged attack on his former partner that resulted in her death.
The incident, which took place at a residence in Rietze near Edemissen at the end of February 2025, reportedly involved the accused striking his ex-partner repeatedly on the head with a crowbar, causing her to fall down a staircase. Tragically, the 38-year-old victim did not survive the attack, dying at the scene.
The trial began with the defendant denying the charges against him. The public prosecutor's office, however, expects a complex presentation of evidence, with a total of 125 witnesses named.
The case also involves an alleged attempt to poison a woman through a coffee machine. The water in the machine's tank was found to be an unusual color and had a suspicious taste. The water tank was targeted, with the defendant allegedly filling it with a highly toxic insecticide, intended for consumption.
A woman who owned the coffee machine noticed the unusual color and suspicious taste and did not drink the coffee. The defendant's identity is not specified in the charges against him in relation to this incident.
The trial is set to continue until mid-December, with the first witnesses already called to testify. The community in Hildesheim and beyond await the outcome of this deeply concerning case.
