Man Utd nears colossal deal, enabled by Romano's 'here we go', while Aston Villa receives approval for player loan
Jadon Sancho's future at Manchester United appears to be taking a new direction, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that the winger is likely to join Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.
According to Romano, negotiations between Aston Villa and Man Utd for Sancho continue on Deadline Day, with only final details needing to be sorted for the loan deal to be finalized. This development comes after Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea, but Chelsea decided not to take up their option on him.
Instead, Chelsea paid a £5m clause to send Sancho back to Man Utd. The 22-year-old Englishman has just one year left on his deal at Old Trafford, although Man Utd have a one-year option in the contract.
Man Utd have been active in the transfer market this summer, bringing in four new signings: Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon. However, they are also looking to get a few players out of the door before the transfer window shuts, with Antony and Jadon Sancho two of the main names set to go.
The high wages and Man Utd's asking price have been a stumbling block for potential suitors so far, but it seems Aston Villa are prepared to meet those demands. Romano also reports that a separate deal from Emi Martínez is being discussed in the same conversation.
Sancho's move to Aston Villa would be a significant boost for the Midlands club, who are set to complete a deal for the talented winger. United fans, meanwhile, may be left wondering what the future holds for Sancho at Old Trafford.
