Manchester City claimed victory in their recent friendly match, thanks to a late penalty conversion by the late Kolarov.
In a thrilling encounter at Tynecastle, Manchester City managed to secure a hard-fought 3-1 win against Hearts. The Premier League champions, who had suffered a 2-0 loss to Dundee just five days prior, made a host of changes during the interval to turn the tide of the match.
The opening goal of the game came in the 25th minute, with Scott Sinclair finding the back of the net past Hearts goalkeeper Neil Alexander, thanks to a well-executed move involving Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo.
However, Hearts responded strongly in the second half, with Osman Sow scoring in the 57th minute to cancel out Sinclair's goal. The equaliser was set up by Dale Carrick and past substitute goalkeeper Willy Caballero, who was in goal due to an injury to Joe Hart.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw, but Manchester City were awarded a penalty in the 79th minute following a foul on 20-year-old Welsh winger Emyr Huws. Aleksandar Kolarov stepped up to take the spot-kick and converted it, sending Jack Hamilton the wrong way and into the bottom corner.
The penalty gave Manchester City a 2-1 lead, and Kolarov added another in stoppage time to secure a 3-1 win for the visitors. The coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, who was not on the bench during the game, would have been pleased with his side's resilience and determination to bounce back from their previous defeat.
Hearts, who started the second half of the match sharper than Manchester City, will be disappointed not to have taken something from the game, but will take heart from their spirited performance against one of the best teams in the world.
