Manchester's City's football official, Hugo Viana, expresses his team's eagerness for the upcoming 2025-26 UEFA Champions League draw, due to the anticipated reunion of star player, Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester City fans are in for a treat as club legend Kevin De Bruyne is set to return to the Etihad Stadium. The Belgian midfielder, who spent a decade at the club before moving to SSC Napoli as a free transfer in the summer of 2025, will be back in blue for the upcoming season.
Hugo Viana, the club's director of football, expressed his excitement about De Bruyne's return. "We are thrilled to welcome Kevin back to Manchester City," Viana said. "He is a legend of this club, and his return will undoubtedly be a positive experience for everyone involved."
De Bruyne, who is now 34 years old, made a significant impact during his first stint at the club. In 288 Premier League appearances, he scored 72 goals and provided a staggering number of assists, finishing second only to Ryan Giggs in the all-time assists list.
The upcoming season is expected to be a busy one for Manchester City, with the club participating in the Champions League. They have been drawn against Napoli, one of eight teams they will face in the league phase, which also includes Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen.
Viana did not provide any new information about the league phase of the Champions League or the other teams participating. However, he did mention that avoiding long trips is a positive aspect of participating in the Champions League for Manchester City.
De Bruyne played a crucial role in helping Manchester City win their first Champions League title in 2023. His return to the club is expected to boost the morale of both the players and the fans, with Viana believing that Pep Guardiola and the rest of the Manchester City staff will be happy to welcome him back.
Manchester City is proud to be participating in the Champions League, with Viana stating, "We are happy and proud to be part of this prestigious competition. We look forward to the challenges ahead and are confident that we can make a strong showing in the tournament."
With De Bruyne back in the fold, Manchester City fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead, starting from September.
