Mareike Hoch delivers warmth, subsequently followed by thunderstorms - Mareike radiates warmth, followed by a surge of thunder
On Sunday, Germany experienced a cool start with an early autumnal touch, marking a shift in the weather pattern announced by the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. From Wednesday onwards, the weather is expected to become more changeable and cooler.
However, before the chill sets in, high "Mareike" is bringing calm, summery days to Germany. On Monday, temperatures are expected to remain warm, with more than 25 degrees in the southwest of Germany, and elsewhere in Germany, it will also be warm. On Tuesday, temperatures of at least 25 degrees are expected in large parts of Germany, with the southwest and even the Upper Rhine region potentially reaching nearly 30 degrees.
But the tranquility is not expected to last long. On Tuesday evening, the first showers and thunderstorms are expected in the southwest, and this trend is set to continue on Wednesday and Thursday. Severe rain, strong winds, hail, and thunderstorms are likely, especially in northwestern Germany. Heavy thunderstorms with storm and even hurricane-force gusts (80 to 120 km/h), intense short-term rainfall, and hail up to 4 cm in diameter are expected to move from Benelux into that region. In the southwest and south, isolated strong thunderstorms with possible hail and storm gusts can occur, particularly over mountainous areas.
DWD expert Florian Bilgeri anticipates "some excitement in the weather" from the middle of the week. The unpredictable weather is a reminder for everyone to stay safe and prepared. It's advisable to keep a close eye on weather updates and take necessary precautions as needed.
As for next week, the temperatures are expected to reach over 25 degrees, offering a brief respite from the impending storms. The German Weather Service will continue to provide updates on the weather conditions, ensuring the public remains informed.
