In a recent development, US President Donald Trump announced plans to deploy National Guard troops in Baltimore to combat the rising crime rates in the city. Don Lemon, a renowned journalist, conducted a man-on-the-street interview in Baltimore, asking residents if they would like to see troops in their neighbourhood.

The responses were mixed, with some residents expressing hope that President Trump would deploy troops to combat crime in their city. One resident, a male Trump supporter, stated that the murder rate in Baltimore is getting out of hand and alluded to the high levels of drugs in the city. He described local crime levels as "atrocious" and said that such a change would be "a breath of fresh air."

However, not all residents were in favour of the idea. An older woman, who had experienced a carjacking, said she wanted justice but was unsure about the deployment of troops in her neighbourhood. Meanwhile, other city leaders and residents are wondering if Trump will bring troops to their neighbourhoods to combat crime.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser initially expressed concern about Trump deploying National Guard troops and assuming oversight of the Metropolitan Police Department. However, the federal surge had a noticeable impact on Washington, D.C., including an 87% reduction in carjackings.

Alexander Hall, an associate editor for a certain website, has been closely following the situation in Baltimore. In an extensive video interview with Baltimore residents, Lemon spoke to locals in a Baltimore neighbourhood and many expressed a desire for troops to "straighten everything out." A man in Muslim garb also expressed support for Trump sending troops to Baltimore, stating it could be a welcome change and potentially clean up crime-ridden neighbourhoods.

Trump has expressed interest in fighting crime in Baltimore and believes he has the right and obligation to address the issue to protect the country. He compared Baltimore to Chicago, calling both cities "hellholes." Lemon lamented the ineffectiveness of government programs in addressing crime in Baltimore and questioned whether the deployment of troops would bring about a lasting solution.
