Massive 120 million Euro Lottery Prize Awarded to Residents in South Germany

Germany's luck's finally changed - someone in Baden-Württemberg has struck gold with a whopping 120-million euro Eurojackpot win! This bumps up Germany's record for the highest lottery win. With the winning numbers 1, 5, 27, 36, 43, 5, and 9, one lucky player managed to solve the 12-week-long jackpot puzzle, as announced by Westlotto post-draw in Helsinki.

In July 2022, the apex value of 120 million euros was first scooped up by Denmark. Then, in November 2022, a Berlin resident cashed in, setting a new record for Germany. Fast forward to June 2023, and it was Schleswig-Holstein's turn, while Norway took the jackpot in January 2024, and Denmark in the previous June.

The Eurojackpot jackpot is often shared. Back in April, 60 million euros went to players from North Rhine-Westphalia and Slovenia, while 60 million euros were won by players from North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate in December 2024. The current jackpot had been on a roll since March.

The escalating jackpot comes into play when no player correctly guesses the five main numbers from 1 to 50 and the two additional Euro numbers from 1 to 12. Any undistributed prize money from the first category then goes straight into the jackpot for the upcoming draw. Coordinated by Westlotto in Münster, the draw takes place in Helsinki every Friday at 9 PM local time. The odds of winning the Eurojackpot stand at approximately 1 in 140 million.
