Mastering his skills, Joao Neves shines with three goals for Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) continued their impressive form in Ligue 1 with a 6-3 victory over Toulouse, extending their streak of scoring in away games to 12 consecutive matches.

João Neves, a Portuguese midfielder who previously developed in Benfica's youth system, was the star of the show for PSG. Neves, who transferred to PSG in August 2024, scored a hat-trick in the match, with two of the goals being overhead kicks—a move he practices regularly in training.

Neves' hat-trick equaled his goal tally in the league from the previous season, and his impressive performance earned praise from head coach Luis Enrique. "I admire the way João scored his goals," Enrique said. "He demonstrated great skill and determination."

PSG's dominance was evident from the start, as they scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the match—a first for the club in all competitions. Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola also got on the scoresheet for PSG, while Neves conceded two goals in the final part of the game, which was not what the team wanted.

Enrique acknowledged lapses in the final stages of the game but is optimistic about regaining their level through training and matches. "We started the match in the best possible way with our style of play and desire to score goals," he said. "There are always areas we can improve, and we will work hard to do so."

The match against Toulouse was particularly challenging due to the stadium, according to Enrique. "The stadium was quite difficult to play in, but I'm glad to see my side begin to find their form after a deep run at the Club World Cup," he said.

Neves expressed happiness about the team's victory and his personal achievement of scoring a hat-trick. "I'm delighted with the result and my personal performance," he said. "But there are still things we can improve, and we will continue to work hard to do so."

Paris Saint-Germain have now scored 38 goals in their last 12 away games in Ligue 1, with this being the longest streak of scoring in away games in Ligue 1 for PSG since January to September 2021. The team will look to maintain their form when they face their next opponents in the league.
