Mayor of Mende meets with Turkish Consul General Akdevelioğlu in city hall gathering
In a significant development, Nagihan İlknur Akdevelioglu has been appointed as the Consul General of Turkey in Frankfurt, as of August 20, 2024. Akdevelioglu's career in diplomacy spans over two decades, having started in 2002 at a private bank's supervisory authority.
Born in 1978 in Bursa, Turkey, Akdevelioglu completed her studies in international relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University and later earned a master's degree in European studies at Boğaziçi University. Her professional journey within the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs began in 2006.
Akdevelioglu's current role marks a significant step in the bilateral relations between Germany and Turkey. Over 16,000 Wiesbaden residents have Turkish roots, and the city has maintained a close relationship with Fatih, a district located on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey, since 2012.
The twin cities have fostered an intensive exchange of their schools, and numerous study and educational trips take place between them. The partnership association was established immediately after the city partnership between Wiesbaden and Fatih.
During her tenure, Akdevelioglu's work has primarily focused on maintaining good relations and fostering German-Turkish economic relations. A recent conversation between unspecified parties served this purpose, with discussions centred around the economic ties between the two nations.
For any questions regarding the Consul General's office, the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden can be contacted at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden.
The appointment of Nagihan İlknur Akdevelioglu as Consul General of Turkey in Frankfurt is expected to further strengthen the existing bonds between Germany and Turkey, and contribute to the continued growth of their mutual relations.
