Canadian Boxer Christian Mbilli Prepares for Historic Debut in Las Vegas

Christian Mbilli, the Canadian boxing sensation, is gearing up for a significant milestone in his career as he prepares to compete in a major boxing gala in Las Vegas. The event, scheduled for an upcoming date, will feature the highly anticipated match-up between Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and American Terence "Bud" Crawford.

Mbilli and his team, including trainers Marc Ramsay and Luc-Vincent Ouellet, Canadian sparring partner Cédric Bellony, and physical trainer Philippe Gougeon, arrived in Las Vegas by rental car. To focus and rest, Mbilli has chosen to stay away from the city's vibrant Strip and the festive atmosphere.

The boxer has been following a rigorous training regime, having spent three weeks in the mountains of Big Bear, near Los Angeles, before making the journey to Las Vegas. Mbilli's preparation includes a daily routine of waking up late, preparing eggs, taking a nap, and staying up late in the evening.

On Monday, Mbilli went running on a stadium track in Las Vegas, and he will continue his training at Bob Arum's boxing gym until Thursday, the eve of the weigh-in. Mbilli has also been mindful of maintaining a balanced media schedule, committing to only two or three hours of mandatory media engagements each day this week.

Mbilli expresses pride and happiness about fighting in such a large event, but tries to avoid thinking about it to avoid pressure. If given the chance, he plans to slip in a few words to Alvarez, expressing respect and his goal of facing the one with the belts, who currently is Alvarez. However, Mbilli is unsure if he can approach Alvarez at the press conference on Thursday or the weigh-in the next day.

The Fontainebleau, a luxurious casino-hotel in Las Vegas, will serve as the headquarters for the boxing gala. The organizers, Saudi Turki Alalshikh and Dana White, president of the UFC, will be present to welcome the fighters. Both Alalshikh, as chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and president of the Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation, and White, as UFC CEO and promoter, are leading this event.

On Wednesday, August 30, Alalshikh and White will represent the fighters Alvarez and Crawford during the presentation in Las Vegas. Mbilli was very sought after by Canadian media and dedicated two days to them in Big Bear. On Sunday, he went to the hairdresser and had a massage, both appointments were filmed by a team working with the promoters.

Mbilli will defend his WBC interim super-middleweight belt against Guatemalan Lester Martinez at the gala. He is determined to make the most of this opportunity and is ready to showcase his skills on the grand stage. The upcoming boxing gala in Las Vegas promises to be an unforgettable event, and Mbilli is poised to make his mark.
