McLaren drivers falter, allowing Verstappen to triumph in the Italian Formula 1 race
In the world of Formula One, the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit on September 10, 2025, saw Max Verstappen (Red Bull) claim his 65th victory. The race marked the sixteenth event of the World Championship.
The race began with Lando Norris (McLaren) starting from pole position, but it was Verstappen who emerged victorious. Norris finished in second place, with Oscar Piastri (McLaren) taking third.
The race was not without its dramas. Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) benefited Alonso (Aston Martin) in the points zone due to DRS, while Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls) found himself in the middle after Alonso's pit stop on lap 21.
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Piastri had a fierce battle for third place, but it was Piastri who claimed the podium spot. Unfortunately, Alonso retired from the race due to a front suspension failure on lap 38.
Elsewhere on the track, Esteban Ocon (Haas) was penalized for a touch with Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), and Carlos Sainz had another disappointing day, ending up out of the points due to a touch from Oliver Bearman (Haas).
Verstappen stopped on lap 38 and returned to the track with hard tires, while Norris and Piastri opted for medium tires. The British team's strategy did not work to catch up with Verstappen's better pace.
Looking ahead, the next Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place in two weeks, on the weekend of September 21, in Azerbaijan at the Baku City Circuit. The driver with the highest number of World Championship titles competing in the race is Lewis Hamilton, who currently holds seven titles. The race promises to be an exciting one, as Hamilton looks to extend his lead in the championship.
