Born with birth injuries that have taken a severe toll on his health, Al-Tair lives under the constant care of his mother, Gulzat. Despite the difficulties, Gulzat manages to maintain her son’s health with unwavering dedication.
Now, as the days grow harder, Gulzat faces a formidable challenge: the medications prescribed under the state program are proving ineffective. With no additional funding, she's left to purchase expensive, yet effective, alternatives out of pocket. The list of necessary drugs ranges from painkillers, fever reducers, and anticonvulsants to care products, diapers, and specialized nutrition.
"By 2025, 5,270,000 tenge is required. The child is under home palliative care. The polyclinic provides the available assistance from non-budget funds. Last year, drugs and consumables were purchased for 34,161 tenge, and this year for 120,600 tenge, of which 54,854 tenge has been issued. The Health Department has purchased specialized therapeutic nutrition using local budget funds, awaiting delivery. Due to limited legislative and financial capabilities, we ask for your support in providing charitable assistance," the appeal states.

"I've requested that my son be placed under state care several times, but so far, there's been no progress," states Gulzat from Pavlodar.
Determined to provide for her son, Gulzat has transformed one of her apartment's rooms into a mini-ICU, learning to administer medications, set up IV drips, and monitor her son's vital signs. Yet, she laments that even the monitoring device has stopped warning her about impending seizures.
"Either the device is malfunctioning, or Alto’s condition is such that it’s not being detected. Before, he could sleep with painkillers, but now, even in his sleep, he has seizures. Each one is different, and sometimes I don’t even understand what’s happening. He also has a high fever that spikes to 39 or 40 degrees Celsius, drops for a short while, then rises again. The high fever reduces the effectiveness of the medications. His reactions are unpredictable, and he doesn’t digest food properly. He also experiences oxygen deprivation," Gulzat says, fighting back tears.
As the days wear on, stabilizing her son's condition becomes increasingly difficult for Gulzat. Determined to keep fighting, she appeals not only to the state but also to the people of Kazakhstan.
