Melbourne's IHK Fulda was honored with an award.

The Industrial and Commercial Chamber (IHK) Fulda has made a significant mark on the global stage, with its innovative New-Work approach being awarded one of the world's best chamber projects at the 14th World Chambers Congress in Melbourne.

Michael Konow, the CEO of IHK Fulda, had the opportunity to present the project in a 5-minute pitch to over 1,000 delegates from over 100 countries. The project, which emphasises flat hierarchies, transparency, unburdened projects, and enjoying one's work, made it onto the shortlist and was selected by an international jury for the world final of a global competition.

The New-Work approach in the context of IHK Fulda means creating an environment that fosters transparency, participation, and diversity. This forward-thinking approach has led to numerous groundbreaking initiatives. For instance, the team at IHK Fulda created a psychological safe space for employees, allowing them to be who they really are and feel comfortable, leading to the emergence of many ideas.

One such idea was transforming their six-story building into a 'window of diversity' for the national diversity day. Another innovative idea that came to life during the Corona pandemic was offering virtual self-help exchange platforms for and by entrepreneurs.

Moreover, the communication team at IHK Fulda initiated a prize for environmentally friendly night lighting in companies, which is now gaining nationwide attention. This eco-friendly initiative is a testament to IHK Fulda's commitment to sustainability.

Despite not winning the overall competition, IHK Fulda can be proud of its achievement. Michael Konow, the CEO, received a lot of positive feedback for the path taken to make the IHK more member-oriented, approachable, and modern. He acknowledged the team's efforts and the support from the honorary office, especially from the president Dr. Christian Gebhardt.

The projects in the "Best out-of-the-box project" category are unique and groundbreaking, and IHK Fulda's project is no exception. Despite not providing information about which jury selected the New-Work project of the IHK Fulda for the world championship competition, it is clear that the project's innovative approach and impact have impressed the international jury.

As IHK Fulda looks to the future, it can do so with a lot of tailwind. The organisation, which was the first industry and chamber of commerce and enterprise organisation in Germany to adopt modern management approaches and align the entire organisation according to New-Work principles, continues to push boundaries and inspire change.
