Memory of Virginia Giuffre, published posthumously months after her demise
Virginia Roberts Giuffre's posthumous memoir, titled Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, offers a raw and unflinching account of her experiences with Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and their famous associates. The book, co-written with award-winning journalist Amy Wallace, is set to be published on October 21.
Written in collaboration with Wallace, who has previously contributed to books such as "Creativity, Inc." and "Hot Seat", Nobody's Girl contains new, intimate, disturbing, and heart-wrenching details about Giuffre's relationship with Epstein, Maxwell, and their influential companions.
Giuffre first spoke publicly about her relationship with Prince Andrew in her book, discussing the events leading up to her 2022 out-of-court settlement with the royal. Notably, Maxwell denied Giuffre's allegations, and in 2021, Maxwell was convicted for sex trafficking and other charges.
In the book, Giuffre also discusses her earlier accusations against Alan Dershowitz, which she later retracted in 2022, stating that she may have made a mistake in identifying him as the aggressor.
Alfred A. Knopf initially accepted a seven-figure contract with Penguin Press but later chose to publish the book. Jordan Pavlin, editor-in-chief of Alfred A. Knopf, describes Nobody's Girl as a brutal and shocking journey and "a tale of a fierce spirit fighting for freedom".
The manuscript for Nobody's Girl, totalling 400 pages, was completed by Giuffre before her tragic death on April 25, following a serious accident on March 24. The book aims to shed light on systemic flaws enabling cross-border trafficking of vulnerable people, as expressed in an email to Wallace by Giuffre.
In 2023, Giuffre struck a deal with an unidentified publisher for a book estimated to be in the millions. The book has undergone rigorous fact-checking and extensive legal vetting, according to a statement from Alfred A. Knopf.
Former President Donald Trump made headlines in 2019 by claiming that Epstein had "stolen" Giuffre from Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Florida. Epstein was found dead in a New York prison cell in 2019, which investigators ruled a suicide. Maxwell was also convicted at the end of 2021 for sex trafficking and other charges.
Nobody's Girl promises to be a powerful and poignant account of Giuffre's life, offering a unique perspective on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and the systemic issues it exposed.
