Method for Sending Private Messages to Friends through Spotify
In a recent development, music streaming giant Spotify has rolled out an in-app messaging feature, allowing users to communicate with each other directly within the app. This new feature is currently available in select markets, including Latin and South America, with more regions set to follow soon.
The feature works by enabling users to message people they've shared a song, playlist, or podcast with before. It's as simple as opening a conversation with a friend and discussing the tunes that have brought you together. You can invite someone to chat by sending them a chat link from your contacts, much like reactions on popular platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, or Messenger.
To start a conversation, navigate to the other user's profile, tap "Message" (if available), and send a request. Once the request is approved, the chat will begin. Long-press or tap on a message to react with an emoji, adding a touch of personalisation to your conversations.
To turn off messages, head to Settings, then Privacy and Social, and toggle off Messages. It's important to note that messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, but not end-to-end encrypted.
Spotify users on the Family or Duo plan can also engage in these conversations. To find your messages, tap your profile picture in the app and go to the Messages section in the left-hand hover bar. Open any conversation to see your chat history.
The in-app messaging feature is available only on the latest version of the Spotify app and is designed for users who are 16 years or older. Spotify may review flagged conversations if reported, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all users.
If someone sends a Spotify link from WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, or other apps, you can approve their request to chat, expanding your network of music companions even further.
While the search results do not provide information about which countries have been included so far in the selection for access to Spotify's in-app messaging function, the company is expected to continue its global rollout in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new feature.
