The provincial transit agency, Metrolinx, has placed a second order for 97 diesel-powered commuter coaches from Motor Coach Industries (MCI). This move is part of Metrolinx's investment in expanding and renewing its coach fleet to meet the increasing demand for regional transit services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

The new coaches, which are the D45 CRT model, are designed for high-capacity, intercity operations. They are equipped with accessibility features and are designed for long-distance passenger comfort, making them ideal for the growing population and employment base of the GTHA.

The D45 CRT coaches are part of Metrolinx's ambitious transit expansion plan in Canada. These coaches will help accommodate ridership growth in the GTHA, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery as the region continues to experience population and employment growth.

NFI Group, the parent company of MCI, is well-positioned to help power Metrolinx's efforts by delivering safe, comfortable, and efficient mobility solutions. The repeat order for MCI coaches indicates a vote of confidence in MCI's commitment to quality, reliability, and customer support.

The total number of MCI D45 CRT coaches ordered by Metrolinx now stands at 177. These coaches will replace ageing fleet vehicles, ensuring a modern and up-to-date fleet that can meet the demands of the growing GTHA.

Metrolinx is driving forward an ambitious transit expansion in Canada, aiming to improve the quality of life for millions of people in the GTHA by providing efficient and reliable public transportation. The addition of these 97 MCI coaches is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
