Mets' Offensive Remark Influences Late-Game Rally, Allowing Them to Sweep Giants in a Seven-Game Winning Streak

Mets Sweep Giants with Comeback Win

The New York Mets extended their winning streak to seven games on Saturday, matching a season high, as they secured a comeback victory against the San Francisco Giants with a score of 5-3. This win completed a series sweep for the Mets, who are currently 1 1/2 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East.

The game began with a promising start for the Mets, as Francisco Lindor's RBI groundout in the third inning gave them a 1-0 lead. However, Matt Chapman equalized for the Giants with a homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning, tying the game 1-1.

In the fifth inning, a series of key events unfolded. Alvarez and rookie Ronny Mauricio delivered consecutive doubles, giving the Mets a 2-1 lead. Chapman responded with his second homerun of the game, a two-run blast that put the Giants back in a 3-2 deficit. But Mauricio wasn't done yet. With a splash hit, a shot into the San Francisco Bay beyond the right field wall, he tied the game 3-3 in the seventh inning.

Kodai Senga, in his third start off the injured list, pitched for 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and 5 walks, with 3 strikeouts. Despite allowing a seventh homerun in the game and his third in his past two starts, the Mets' pitching held strong.

In the ninth inning, Edwin Díaz loaded the bases but managed to close out the game with a flair. He struck out Willy Adames and Chapman to end the game, with his final pitch being a 98 mph fastball that Chapman swung at and missed.

Díaz recorded his 23rd save in 25 chances, despite walking two and hitting a batter in the ninth inning. Brandon Nimmo's single in the ninth inning delivered the fifth run for the Mets, securing the victory.

Ronny Mauricio finished the game with 4 hits and 2 RBIs, marking his first career four-hit game. Juan Soto, who was under contract with the Washington Nationals at the beginning of the 2023 season, also contributed to the win. He unloaded with two outs in the seventh inning, clearing the left field fence for his 25th homerun of the season, giving the Mets a 4-3 lead.

The Mets will look to continue their winning streak when they face the Giants in the final game of the series on Sunday.
