The Porch Reopens in Midtown Sacramento After Fire

After being closed for a month and a half, The Porch, a popular restaurant serving southern comfort dishes in midtown Sacramento, has reopened its doors to the community. The establishment, which was founded and is owned by Chef Craig Wilson, faced a significant setback when a fire occurred in mid-July.

Despite the extensive damage to the building's exterior, Shelby Davis, the general manager at The Porch, stated that they only suffered water and smoke damage inside the building. This revelation brought some relief to the employees, who had initially been scared due to the fire damage.

During the closure, The Porch underwent a new makeover. The exterior of the building was repainted, and several new touches were added to the interior. The Porch is now sporting a fresh, vibrant look that has excited the community, many of whom have been calling to ask when the restaurant would reopen.

The reopening occurred over the holiday weekend, and The Porch celebrated with a live band on Saturday. The event was well-attended, with the community showing their support for the beloved restaurant.

In addition to Sunday brunch, which has been a staple at The Porch for years, the restaurant is now serving dinner on Sunday nights. This is the first time in years that The Porch has offered dinner on Sundays, and it has been warmly received by patrons.

The Porch has also updated its menu, offering new dishes that showcase Chef Wilson's culinary talents. Davis expressed heartbreak over the fire damage but is optimistic about the future of The Porch.

In an effort to bounce back after the fire, The Porch is seeking community support. Davis encourages everyone to come and enjoy a meal at The Porch, where they can taste the southern comfort that has made it a beloved establishment in midtown Sacramento.
