Military Action Against Iran: America Stationizes Strategic Bombers

The United States has increased its military presence near Iran, with an unusually high number of strategic bombers stationed at the Diego Garcia military base in the Indian Ocean. The deployment, approximately 3800 kilometers from Iran, comes amidst a tense standoff between the two nations.

President Donald Trump has threatened Tehran, stating, "Iran must never have nuclear weapons, otherwise, it would face a 'bombardment like the world has never seen'." This warning follows Iran's threats directed at the US base on Diego Garcia.

Six B-2 stealth bombers, B-52 bombers, transport aircraft, tankers, and a reconnaissance plane have been spotted at the base. The presence of these military assets is being interpreted as building military pressure on Tehran. The deployment of B-2 stealth bombers, known for their ability to precisely hit deeply buried targets like Iran's nuclear facilities, is also seen as psychological warfare.

The USA has long maintained that "Iran must never have nuclear weapons." This stance has been reiterated as the background for this military deployment, with the slow progress of talks on a possible new nuclear deal between the USA and Iran serving as a catalyst.

The tense situation could potentially lead to military escalation. Two aircraft carrier groups are currently operating in the Middle East, one of which has been extended in the region. The B-2 stealth bombers have previously been used in operations against Houthi militias in Yemen, which some interpret as a "warm-up" for possible operations in Iran.

However, the current situation also leaves room for a political solution. Both political resolution and military escalation seem possible outcomes. The United States has B-52 bombers, transport aircraft, tankers, and reconnaissance aircraft, including the WC-135R, stationed at Diego Garcia. These aircraft were observed operating from Diego Garcia as recently as late 2024, notably with the WC-135R conducting atmospheric sampling missions over the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.

This military buildup has not gone unnoticed by Iran. Tehran has responded with threats against the US base on Diego Garcia, further escalating the already tense relationship between the two nations. The potential operations in Iran, if they were to occur, could involve the B-2 stealth bombers.

As the situation continues to unfold, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the standoff between the USA and Iran. Diego Garcia, a military base located in the Indian Ocean, remains a focal point in this geopolitical drama.
