Military action in northern Gaza is set to lead to a reduction or complete halt in Israeli aid
In the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the situation continues to deteriorate as the Health Ministry reports another 10 deaths due to starvation and malnutrition over the past 24 hours, including three children. This brings the total number of Palestinians who have died from such causes during the war to 332.
Airstrikes have not occurred in Gaza for several days, but violence continues unabated. A strike on the Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City killed seven people, and an Israeli strike on a bakery in the Nasr neighborhood resulted in the tragic loss of 12 lives, including six women and three children.
The Israeli military has announced the cessation of humanitarian aid deliveries in parts of the northern Gaza Strip, designating certain areas like Al-Mawasi as "humanitarian zones" and urging residents to relocate there amid military operations against Hamas. However, the Israeli army has not commented on how aid will be provided during a potential population shift in Gaza.
The fear of the expanding military offensive putting hostages in more danger is palpable. Forty-eight hostages remain in Gaza out of over 250 seized, and the remains of one hostage, Idan Shtivi, have been identified. Israel believes 20 of the hostages are still alive.
The situation in Gaza City has grown so dire that it has been declared a combat zone. Mirjana Spoljaric, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, stated that a mass evacuation of Gaza City would be impossible due to widespread destruction and resource shortages.
AP video footage shows several large explosions across Gaza overnight, adding to the chaos and destruction. Israel plans to evacuate hundreds of thousands of people south, but the number of aid trucks arriving in Gaza will be reduced, raising concerns about the ability to provide for the displaced population.
Hamas has condemned the strike on a residential building in Rimal as a "brutal escalation against civilians." The Israeli military has not commented on the incident. As the conflict continues, the plight of the people in Gaza becomes increasingly dire, with no end to the violence in sight.
