Military forces in Israel have issued urgent calls for residents of Gaza to evacuate promptly
In a significant development, the Israeli government has announced an intensified offensive in the Gaza Strip, targeting the remaining pockets of Hamas resistance. This offensive, which began in August, has already caused extensive damage to the region's infrastructure, resulting in an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has called on the residents of Gaza to evacuate immediately. In a statement, Netanyahu assured the residents that this is "just the beginning". The Israeli Army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, has echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the Israeli army is determined to eliminate Hamas.
The Israeli military forces are organizing for a ground maneuver against the City of Gaza. Residents are instructed to leave via the Al Rashid road towards the humanitarian zone of Al Mawasi. It is estimated that around a million people live in Gaza, according to the United Nations.
The offensive in the capital of the Palestinian enclave has been intensified by Israeli military forces. The Israeli government aims to recover the 48 hostages it holds, of which it is estimated that 20 are still alive. Many of these hostages are reportedly being used as human shields in buildings and tunnels within the city of Gaza.
The Israeli military will operate in the city of Gaza with great force, as it has done in other parts of the enclave. The Israeli government plans to hand over the management of the territory to civilian entities that are not hostile to Tel Aviv after eliminating Hamas and recovering the hostages.
The war in the Gaza Strip was triggered by a Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, resulting in 1,200 deaths, mostly civilians, and 251 hostages. In retaliation, Israel launched a large-scale offensive, causing over 64,000 deaths, mostly women and children, according to local authorities controlled by the Islamic group.
The Israeli army is actively trying to secure the release of the hostages amidst ongoing military operations and indirect negotiations. The conditions for their release include the disarmament of Hamas and a full release of all hostages.
The offensive in the Gaza Strip has destroyed almost all the infrastructure of the territory, causing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in the region. The Israeli government's announced goal is to eliminate the last pockets of Hamas resistance.
