In a significant ceremony held in Chalisgaon, Maharashtra, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal inaugurated the Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule memorial on Sunday. The event was marked by great enthusiasm and was held under Bhujbal's auspices, along with Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan and other dignitaries such as MP Smitatai Wagh and Legislative Council MLA Yogesh Tilekar.
The memorial, a brainchild of MLA Mangesh Chavan, is not just a tribute to history but an inscription of inspiration for future generations. MLA Chavan, known for his active political role, also announced that the Zilla Parishad school in his Hingone village will be built as a cluster model school and named after Savitribai Phule. Yogesh Tilekar expressed satisfaction over the construction of the memorial, considering it a proud achievement of the Chalisgaon community.
In other news, MLA Mangesh Chavan is associated with the region of Chalisgaon and has been involved in allegations against police officials. Recently, the Pune Rural Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the Mohite Gang in Maval Taluka.
