Mischief and attempted break-in at Seligenstadt: Two juveniles aged 14 are detained
In the quiet town of Seligenstadt, a series of suspicious activities unfolded early Sunday morning. At around 6 am, a resident spotted two darkly dressed juveniles tampering with a car in the Steinweg area. The concerned resident quickly called the police, setting off a chain of events that led to the detainment of two 14-year-olds.
The police, now on the scene, began a manhunt based on the witness's information. After a pursuit, the suspects were apprehended. However, the identity of the person who initially called the police remains undisclosed.
The suspects are suspected of causing damage to more than 20 vehicles and attempting two break-ins. The crime scenes were concentrated around Steinweg, Dammstraße, and Frankfurter Straße, within a few hundred meters of each other. So far, twelve cars have been spray-painted, and nine vehicles have been forced open in the vicinity of the suspects.
The attempted break-ins targeted the gate of a nearby business and the courtyard of a residential building on Dammstraße. Despite their efforts, both attempts to force both the front door and a terrace door failed. The suspects also caused damage to the gate but were unable to open it.
The South Hesse Police Headquarters has reported an estimated property damage of over 50,000 euros due to the suspects' actions. Scattered tools and gardening equipment were found in the affected neighborhood, which could have been used in the break-ins.
As the investigation continues, the police are exploring if the suspects could be linked to other criminal activities. Witnesses and potential additional victims are urged to contact the Seligenstadt Police Station at 06182 8930-0. Tips from witnesses could help clarify the full extent of the incidents and return stolen items to their rightful owners.
The police station is also continuing investigations to explore if the suspects could be linked to other criminal activities in the area. As the case unfolds, the community of Seligenstadt remains vigilant and hopeful for a swift resolution.
