New York's Mobile Sports Betting Market Shows Continued Growth in July 2025
New York's mobile sports betting market continues to thrive, with licensed operators reporting a significant increase in revenue for July 2025. According to data from the New York State Gaming Commission, the net revenue collected in July 2025 increased by more than 10.8% compared to July 2024.
The growth in the market is evident, with DraftKings leading the pack for the second consecutive month. DraftKings recorded the highest mobile sports betting handle of $509.4 million, an 11.5% increase year-over-year. FanDuel followed closely, generating the highest revenue of $61.4 million, up 3.5% year-over-year, though its betting handle slipped slightly to $476.9 million.
Fanatics Sportsbook showed the most dramatic increase, with revenue rising by 80.8% year-over-year. This marked its highest market share since the relaunch in November 2023, indicating rapid growth. BetMGM and Caesars were close in revenue figures, with BetMGM slightly ahead at $10 million from a $98.1 million handle.
Overall, New York sportsbooks posted $155.9 million in total sports betting revenue in July 2025, reflecting a 10.7% increase year-over-year for the state. This marked a third consecutive month with over an 11% hold rate across operators, highlighting strong profitability in the market.
The American Gaming Association estimates the betting handle of the sector to be nearly $23 billion. The increase in revenue is due to the 51% tax on mobile betting revenue applicable to licensed operators in New York. As a result, the proceeds to education reached $79.3 million in July 2025, an increase compared to $71.6 million in July 2024.
The market features nine licensed operators, including Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers, BetMGM, PointsBet, WynnBet, Resorts World, and Fanatics. Operators are increasingly solidifying their positions through features, bonuses, and customer engagement to attract and retain users.
In July 2025, New York was one of the largest sports betting markets in North America. The total mobile betting handle in July 2025 was $1.40 billion. As the market continues to grow, it is expected to generate more than $1 billion in taxes, further supporting the state's economy.
The growth in the mobile sports betting market in New York extends beyond sports, as casino-games within casino-and-gambling apps also reported increased revenue in July 2025. This expansion suggests a broader interest in gambling opportunities beyond sports betting.
Moreover, the ongoing competition between licensed operators like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and Fanatics, among others, is not limited to sports betting, but also involves casino-games, each offering unique features and bonuses to attract and retain users.
As the market flourishes, the potential for additional revenue streams, such as casino-games, could contribute significantly to the overall growth of New York's casino-and-gambling industry, including sports betting.
