Modernization introduction in Dreieich: enhanced road safety through contemporary developments
In the heart of Dreieich, a significant step forward has been taken in the city's traffic monitoring system modernisation. The installation of a new speed camera on Hainer Chaussee marks a milestone in this ongoing process.
This new camera, replacing the old red light monitoring system at the pedestrian crossing in front of the fire station, is not just a speed monitor. It can detect both red light violations and speeding, making it a versatile tool for ensuring road safety.
The approval for this functional extension, including speed monitoring, was granted by the Hessian Higher Administrative Court mid-year. The need for this approval was to prove regular speeding violations at this location, as explained by Karin Eisenhauer, head of the citizen and order department in Dreieich.
The installation of this new speed camera is part of a comprehensive modernisation of traffic monitoring in Dreieich. If approved, the installation of additional two stationary cameras will allow for further measures in traffic control in the new year. The civil engineering work for these new cameras has already begun.
This modernisation process includes the city's decision to terminate its long-standing rental contract for speed cameras in 2023 and acquire its own device. The city has also applied for financial resources for the installation of two more new stationary cameras in the draft budget for 2025.
The First Mayor of Dreieich, Martin Burlon, is responsible for the budget item on funding these additional stationary cameras for the traffic monitoring system in Dreieich for 2025. The goal of these additions is to improve traffic control and ensure more safety on the roads in Dreieich.
The combination of red light and speed monitoring with the additional stationary cameras is expected to significantly reduce the accident risk on Hainer Chaussee. The city reports that this installation is the second step in the realignment of its traffic monitoring, with more advancements to come.
