In two separate incidents, drivers in the districts of Euskirchen and Schleiden have been found to have drugs in their systems, leading to prohibited driving orders.
On August 14th, a 29-year-old truck driver from Weilerswist was stopped for a routine traffic check in Euskirchen-Elsig's "In der Driesch" street. During the check, the truck driver's legs and hands were noticeably trembling. A voluntary drug test conducted at the Euskirchen police station came back positive for amphetamines.
The following day, on August 15th, a 27-year-old car driver from Hellenthal was stopped for a routine traffic check at 12:25 AM on Gemünder Straße in Schleiden. During this stop, alcohol on the breath was detected. A voluntary breath test showed a reading of 0.46% BAC for the car driver, and a subsequent blood sample taken at the Schleiden police station confirmed these findings. A voluntary drug test conducted at the same station came back positive for amphetamines and cannabis.
Both cases involve drivers belonging to the Kreispolizeibehörde Euskirchen (District Police Authority Euskirchen), as evidenced by references to the police press offices and news from the Kreispoliceibehörde Euskirchen in sources related to these locations. In both instances, driving of motor vehicles was prohibited until full sobriety was achieved. Reports were filed regarding drug influence by both drivers.
These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the consequences of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The authorities urge all drivers to be responsible and to prioritise the safety of themselves and others on the road.
