Discover the natural wonders of North Rhine-Westphalia with a guided bike tour offered by the Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) Krefeld-Viersen. The tour takes place on Sunday, September 14, and covers approximately 44 kilometers through some of the region's most picturesque landscapes.

The journey begins in Brüggen-Bracht and leads cyclists through the more than 1,200-hectare Grenzwald nature reserve, one of the most species-rich natural areas in NRW. The route mostly follows unpaved paths, providing a unique and immersive experience as you pedal through the lush Grenzwald.

As you make your way through the reserve, you'll pass the Schlucht nature reserve, a stunning expanse of untouched beauty. The Brachter Wald nature reserve, nestled within the Grenzwald, is home to one of the largest populations of moorfrogs in NRW, adding a delightful touch of wildlife to your journey.

Cyclists will ride past the Borner See and the Mülrather Mill on the Schwalm, offering picturesque views along the way. A detour to the observation tower in the Elmpter Schwalmbruch nature reserve is highly recommended for a panoramic view of the surrounding landscapes.

The route continues through the landscape protection area Meinweg to KP 21, and passes the Tantelbruch and Dielsbruch nature reserves. Along the way, you'll encounter historical landmarks such as the evangelical church from 1699 in Bracht and the chapel of St. George from 1500 in the district of Brempt in Niederkrüchten.

The tour reaches KP 27 in the historic town center of Brüggen, where you can take a moment to explore the charming streets and architecture. The route concludes at the Hariksee, where you'll find an island castle that adds a fairytale-like ending to your adventure.

The route continues uphill to KP 91 in the landscape protection area Schwalmtal before reaching its final destination. Registration for the guided bike tour is required and can be done at [email protected] or by calling 0172/2052536. The number of participants is limited to 30, so be sure to secure your spot.
