Nick Higgins' Anti-Aging Vinyasa Flow: A Unique Approach to Yoga

Nick Higgins, the co-founder and head of teaching at Hotpod Yoga, has developed a unique method to counteract the effects of aging. At 40 years old, Higgins has honed a six-move anti-aging vinyasa flow that he regularly uses.

The sequence, which Higgins practices in his bathroom using the steam from a hot shower, is designed to increase range of motion, flexibility, and promote overall well-being. The vinyasa flow consists of six yoga poses linked together with a vinyasa sequence between each one.

The routine begins with a high lunge, followed by warrior 2, and then a wide-leg forward bend. From there, Higgins moves into the wheel pose (or alternatively, the cobra pose), deep lunges, and finally, a seated forward bend. In each pose, Higgins recommends holding for five breaths.

In the vinyasa flow, Higgins encourages practitioners to move with control, staying mindful of synchronizing movement to breath. However, he advises listeners to be mindful of their bodies and not overdo it.

Higins claims that the heat raises the body's core temperature to mimic the effects of more intense physical activity. While practicing this yoga sequence in a steamy bathroom can offer benefits, it's essential to take care and stay hydrated before and after.

It's worth noting that Higgins is not the only yoga teacher at Hotpod Yoga. Charlie O'Brien is another instructor who teaches the "anti-aging Vinyasa Flow" class.

However, it's important to remember that not everyone may be suitable for heated yoga. Higgins advises avoiding heated yoga if you've ever suffered from heat exhaustion, use medications like beta blockers, anti-depressants, or stimulants, are pregnant, especially in the first trimester, or have pre-existing cardiovascular conditions or high blood pressure.

Despite adding new exercises to his routine, Higgins continues to practice his morning yoga routine. He believes that yoga is anti-aging and never overloads the body.

In conclusion, Nick Higgins' anti-aging vinyasa flow offers a unique approach to yoga, combining traditional poses with the heat of a steamy bathroom to create a challenging and invigorating practice. As with any exercise routine, it's crucial to listen to your body and practice safely.
