Wild Car Chase in Los Angeles Ends with Arrest

A dramatic car chase across Los Angeles County came to an end on Friday, when a suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was taken into custody. The incident began in the 5100 block of E. Olympic Boulevard in East LA, where the suspect hijacked a car with three boys (ages 2, 7, and 8) inside.

The boys, who were understandably terrified, were crying and desperate for their mother during the high-speed pursuit. Tragically, the suspect threw the mother's phone out of the window during the chase, leaving her unable to call for help.

The chase continued through Malibu and onto the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), where the suspect crashed into another car at the intersection of PCH and Kanan Dume Road in the Point Dume area. The crash ended the chase, but not before the boys took off their seatbelts due to fear and recklessness.

Fortunately, each of the children was taken to the UCLA Medical Center via helicopter for treatment. The youngest brother was released to his parents' care on Saturday afternoon, while the eldest two brothers remained hospitalized on Saturday.

The mother's cousin, Katherine, described her as being in shock after the incident. Family members are beyond grateful to have all three back together again. The children's father tried to stop the carjacking but was dragged and fell to the ground.

During the chase, the suspect was spotted running through thick vegetation and up hillsides before jumping from the car and leading authorities on a brief foot chase. The suspect was eventually apprehended and is now in police custody.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise in unexpected situations. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.
