Mother seeks clarification following the stillbirth of her newborn during childbirth
A 38-year-old woman from Sung Noen district, Nakhon Ratchasima, is demanding answers from a local hospital after the tragic stillbirth of her daughter.
Ms Saijai, the mother, had attended a prenatal appointment at the hospital just before her due date on Tuesday. During the appointment, the hospital reported the baby's heartbeat as normal. However, during the ambulance ride to the hospital, Ms Saijai suspected the baby had stopped moving.
Upon arrival, the hospital staff prepared to transfer the woman to another hospital, claiming the baby was "too large." Throughout the afternoon, the woman's cervix continued to dilate but not enough for delivery.
The baby was delivered about five minutes later at the second hospital, but tragically, the baby had already died. At the second hospital, doctors could not find a heartbeat. The baby's head and hair were visible during the delivery attempt, but the birth did not progress.
Ms Saijai is now calling on the hospital to take responsibility for the stillbirth. She has criticized the first hospital for not acting sooner and for failing to explain what went wrong. She has also requested a post-mortem to determine the cause of the baby's death.
The doctor involved in the birth of Saijai's daughter was Dr. Amanda, and the birth likely took place around June 2025. The woman's cervix was one centimetre dilated during the prenatal appointment, and her first child was healthy in all previous check-ups.
Ms Saijai wants the first hospital to clarify the situation and provide answers to the questions surrounding her daughter's stillbirth. She hopes that by doing so, she can find closure and prevent such a tragedy from happening to another family.
