Movie debut of "Luminiscence" in Münster: Dom recounts his narrative

The historic St. Paulus-Dom in Münster is set to become a stage for an immersive light and sound spectacle, as the lavish projection show "Luminiscence" premieres on September 4, 2025. This marks the first time the show, which originated in France and has been displayed in six cathedrals, will be held in a German cathedral.

Mechthild Großmann, a native of Münster and known for her role in the ARD "Tatort" series, will lend her distinctive voice to the cathedral, narrating its history and guiding visitors through the show. She will "tell" the cathedral's story in the first person, merging the cathedral and the projections in the show.

The show will not be just a visual spectacle; it will also highlight the architecture of the cathedral, ensuring that what is shown happened exactly there. Historians from the diocese have ensured historical accuracy in the show, making it a unique blend of art and history.

Twenty projectors had to be installed inconspicuously within the cathedral months ago for the show. The team has meticulously measured the cathedral with a laser to create the perfect immersive experience.

Live organ music and a choir will be present at the premiere, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the show. The audience will be present at the premiere, making it a truly special event.

Ingrid Langheld and Manuel Meloh, from the Cologne-based production companies Brainpool Live Entertainment and Cape Cross, have been working on this project for months. They are well-known in the TV business, and this is their first foray into the world of large entertainment shows.

The show will be on display at the St. Paulus-Dom until just before Christmas, giving visitors a unique opportunity to experience the cathedral in a new light. On September 4, 2025, at 7:30 PM, local television will report on the premiere of the show, making it an event not to be missed.

The choice of Münster for the show was due to the 800th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone, making it a fitting location for this historic event. The show is a projection of a starry sky inside the cathedral, not above it, adding a touch of magic to the already stunning architecture.

Prepare to be amazed as the St. Paulus-Dom in Münster transforms into a canvas for the Luminiscence show. This is an event not to be missed, and tickets are sure to sell out fast. Don't miss your chance to experience history come to life in a truly unique and immersive way.
