In the heart of Osnabrück, a unique event is unfolding. The Jewish Cultural Festival is offering an exciting mix of films, history, and culture for all ages.

For the young at heart, a new adventure film, "Sky Raiders," is scheduled for screening on Friday, 5 September, at 9 am at Cinema Arthouse. The film follows the journey of two young characters, Yotam and Noa, who stumble upon an old aircraft in a local junkyard. Their goal? To restore the aircraft and fly it in time for the annual airshow. However, Yotam's mother, cautious due to a previous tragedy, is not as enthusiastic about her son's newfound passion.

A film that will tug at your heartstrings is "Irena's Secret," a true story adaptation about a Polish nurse named Irene Gut Opdyke. Forced to supervise Jewish forced laborers during World War II, Irene later used a German officer's villa to hide Jewish people. One of the lives she saved resulted in the birth of a baby boy named Roman Haller in 1944. Remarkably, Roman Haller is still in good health today. Avi Toubiana, director of the cultural festival, recommends "Irena's Secret" for screening on Sunday, 7 September, at 4 pm.

If comedy is more your style, don't miss "Seven Blessings," another film to be screened on Friday, 5 September, at 5 pm. This comedy-drama centres around a large Jewish-Moroccan family reuniting for a wedding, with secrets, lies, and heartache coming to light. "Seven Blessings" was awarded ten times at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival and is set in Israel in the 1990s. It is told in a down-to-earth, funny, and turbulent way.

The characters in "Sky Raiders" face challenges such as Noa's strict father, a jealous brother, and their deepest fears. The film is suitable for the whole family and promises an exciting adventure.

The Jewish Cultural Festival Osnabrück conveys a message of vibrant, diverse, and modern Jewish culture. More information and tickets for the festival can be found at www.juedisches-kulturfestival.de. Additionally, film screenings are being held at Cinema Arthouse.

An old pilot named Morris lends a helping hand to Yotam and Noa in their quest to restore the aircraft. The festival also offers a glimpse into history with "Greener Pastures," a comedy about a 75-year-old retiree who starts a lively trade of medical cannabis in a nursing home, screening on Friday, 5 September, at 5 pm.

Don't miss out on this unique blend of adventure, history, and culture at the Jewish Cultural Festival Osnabrück.
