In a significant move aimed at enhancing the quality of early childhood education, the Diocesan Caritas Association Eichstätt has announced over 90 training courses for pedagogical staff in kindergarten facilities for the year 2026.

The training brochure, published by the Caritas department, marks its 50th issue, first published in 1975. The courses, which can be viewed online at www.caritas-eichstaett.de/fortbildung and direct online registration is possible, cover a wide range of topics.

Courses like "Dynamic Speaking and Resonant Language" and "Sleeping in the Kindergarten" are available for those working with children under three years old. These courses aim to provide the necessary skills to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for the youngest learners.

Directors can participate in a 22-day comprehensive training series called "Qualified Leadership - Social Management in Kindergarten Facilities". This programme is designed to equip directors with the skills needed to manage their facilities effectively and ensure the smooth running of the kindergarten.

A special focus will be on the topic of understanding and promoting democracy. Courses like "Elections in the Jungle" and "Reimagining the Morning Circle" are offered to promote children's participation in kindergarten.

The focus topics of the training courses also include child protection and sex education, education for sustainable development, team development and team health, school-age childcare, leadership of kindergarten facilities, and guidance for interns.

A course on "Autism Spectrum Disorder - Basic Knowledge" is offered to cater to children with special needs. This course aims to provide staff with the knowledge and skills needed to support children with autism effectively.

In the "Personal Development" area, courses such as "I Feel Comfortable in My Skin! - New Paths in Kindergarten with Mindfulness, Playful Body Experience, and Relaxation" or "Is This Normal? Understanding and Supporting Children's Sexuality" are offered. These courses are designed to help staff better understand and support the emotional and physical development of children.

In the "Social Behavior" area, a new seminar "Bullying: Crime Scene Kindergarten and After-School Care - When Small Conflicts Become Big Issues" is offered. This seminar aims to equip staff with the skills needed to address and prevent bullying in kindergarten and after-school care.

The "Art and Creativity" area invites kindergarten staff to explore creative use of tablets and gender-neutral approaches to technology. In the "Media" area, courses on Artificial Intelligence and its potential applications in kindergartens are offered.

In-house seminars are available for courses such as "Playfully Defiant", "Implementing the Protection Concept in the Kindergarten", and "Giving Children a Voice".

A seminar called "Child Protection Conversations with Parents" is held to strengthen partnership with parents. New offers for directors include "Here to Stay - Successfully Onboarding New Employees", "All About the Law - Overview of Applicable Legal Regulations in Kindergarten for Directors", and "Keeping the Kindergarten Under Control! Bookkeeping with Heart and System for Directors".

New courses for employees include "Acting Decisively in Kindergarten - A Stance that Builds Relationships", "Conducting Difficult Conversations - Communication Made Easy!", and "Challenging Daily Situations in Kindergarten".

Caritas director Alfred Frank and the head of the Caritas department for kindergartens, Stephanie Sattler, emphasize the importance of seeing, understanding, and accepting children and families in their work. The head of the Center for Education and Family Counseling in Neumarkt, where the seminar "Why love your neighbor? Faith as a source of help" is offered, is PD Dr. Thomas Schnelzer.
