Multitudes Say Goodbye to Armani in Emotional Farewell Ceremony

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91, leaving behind an empire he founded over five decades ago. The news of his death was confirmed on Thursday.

Giorgio Armani, along with his partner Sergio Galeotti, established Giorgio Armani SpA in the mid-70s. This partnership grew into a global fashion empire now worth many billions. After Galeotti's early death in 1985, Armani owned the company alone.

The funeral of the legendary designer will take place on Monday in a private ceremony. The coffin of Giorgio Armani was brought to the Teatro Armani, the venue where he personally presented his major fashion shows, on Friday morning. The crowd gathered outside the building greeted the hearse with applause.

A large screen in the room displays a photo of Armani with the Italian quote: "The legacy I wish to leave is one of commitment, respect, and attention to people and reality. That's where it all begins." A bouquet of white roses lies on the coffin. The room is illuminated by hundreds of paper lanterns.

The queue of mourners for Giorgio Armani stretched far out onto the street. The future of his empire is yet to be determined, but it is said that he had plans for succession. According to reports, the leadership of Armani will undergo a gradual transition to his closest collaborators and family, notably including Leo Dell'Orco, head of men's design and Armani's long-time right-hand man.

Giorgio Armani spent his final days in one of his villas in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera. He had planned to attend the opening of an exhibition dedicated to his life's work, set to begin in Milan later this month. However, his declining health forced him to cancel his appearances at his shows in June and July.

Giorgio Armani resided in one of Milan's most elegant streets. After his death, the fashion world mourns the loss of a visionary who revolutionised the industry with his timeless designs. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of designers to come.
