The Bundespolizei Inspectorate Waidhaus, responsible for the districts of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Tirschenreuth, and the independent city of Weiden, has been active in ensuring law and order in the region.

Recently, officers from the Inspectorate arrested a 41-year-old Romanian man for money laundering. The Bayreuth Regional Court had sentenced him to a fine of 5,500 euros in January 2023, which he had not paid. As a result, the 41-year-old will serve a substitute custodial sentence of almost three months in Weiden Prison.

In a separate incident, a 44-year-old German man paid a fine of 1,200 euros for an offense under the Compulsory Insurance Act, avoiding a substitute custodial sentence ordered in the arrest warrant.

The Waidhaus Bundespolice also caught a 25-year-old Czech man, who was fined 800 euros for a violation of the law on compulsory insurance for foreign motor vehicles. The man had to pause his journey to Rotterdam to settle the fine with the officers.

The Inspectorate's core tasks include border control and ensuring the safety of train passengers. In the field of railway policing, the BPOLI Waidhaus focuses on crime prevention and risk prevention.

In another railway-related incident, a 21-year-old German man was arrested in Baernau Station on Sunday evening for driving under the influence. The details of his sentencing are not yet available.

Moreover, officers from the Federal Police Inspectorate Waidhaus arrested five wanted criminals during border controls on the A6 at Waidhaus. The arrest warrant for the Czech man was issued by the Hof Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Waidhaus Bundespolice cooperate closely with the Bavarian and Czech police, as well as the customs authorities, to combat cross-border crime.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old German man paid his legal debts and was able to remain at liberty. The Weiden Regional Court had sentenced him to a fine of 1,100 euros. A 53-year-old German man was arrested for forgery and had an outstanding arrest warrant of 3,000 euros. However, the details of his sentencing are not yet available.
