Festival favorite Morgenland Osnabrück returns in 2025 summer, boasting an exciting lineup. This year's focus: change - Festival founder Michael Dreyer hands over artistic leadership after two decades, with Syrian clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh stepping in as the guest curator.

Get ready for an exciting musical journey as the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück returns in summer 2025! This year's event, themed around change, promises to be a vibrant celebration of music and culture, featuring a star-studded lineup of international artists.

The festival will kick off on June 29, 2025, with a spectacular opening concert. Yo-Yo Ma, Kayhan Kalhor, and Alan Gilbert will take the stage, with Kalhor's new double concerto, "Venus in the Mirror," as the centrepiece of the performance. The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra will also perform, setting the tone for an unforgettable opening night.

Throughout the festival, which runs from June 28 to July 11, 2025, audiences can look forward to a diverse range of performances. Kinan Azmeh, the guest curator for the festival in 2025, will bring his unique perspective to the lineup, alongside renowned artists such as Dawn of Midi, Johnny Gandelsman, Brooklyn Rider, Issam Rafea, Asya Fateyeva, François Rabbath, Layale Chaker, Dinuk Wijeratne, Christine Zayed, Tarek Yamani, the Cello Octet Amsterdam, Karen Ouzounian, Nai Barghouti, Jake Charkey, and Shabnam Parvaresh.

In addition to these main performances, the festival's fringe program offers workshops, artist talks, and participatory formats, providing opportunities for audiences to engage more deeply with the music and artists.

The final concert of the festival will feature Rami Khalife and Francesco Tristano in a captivating performance. The concert will culminate in a unique finale, with two pianos in a choreographed interplay of sound, space, and movement.

Erdem Helvacioglu, a renowned composer, is developing a new work in collaboration with the Osnabrück Youth Choir for the festival. His innovative piece combines European choral music with electronic textures, creating a unique blend of sounds that will be performed between Istanbul and New York.

The Morgenland Festival Osnabrück is made possible with the support of several organisations, including the City of Osnabrück, Lower Saxony Foundation, Lower Saxony Savings Bank Foundation, Sparkasse Osnabrück Foundation, Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, NDR Music Promotion in Lower Saxony, Osnabrücker Land Regional Association, and Sievert SE.
