Musicians are vying for the 61st Possehl Music Award.
The 61st Possehl Music Prize is set to take place at the Musikhochschule Lübeck (MHL) on November 13 and 14, 2024. This prestigious event, which has been a springboard for many renowned soloists and ensembles since 1963, including the Artemis Quartet and clarinetist Shirley Brill, will take place in the heart of Lübeck.
The competition will feature 15 students from various instrumental departments, including viola, flute, oboe, horn, cello, piano, and voice. Each student will present an approximately 20-minute program on Wednesday, with the finalists presenting themselves in the second round on Thursday.
The repertoire for the competition ranges from classical to romantic to modern and contemporary compositions, promising a diverse and captivating musical experience. The jury for the competition includes representatives from the Possehl Foundation, the Musikhochschule Lübeck, and external experts from the music field.
Admission to the event is free, offering the public the opportunity to experience excellent musical performances live in the Great Hall of the Musikhochschule Lübeck. The prize winners will be announced in the afternoon of the competition.
