National List Takes Shape in BSW: Andreas Hartenfels Aims for Leadership Position
Andreas Hartenfels, a seasoned political figure, is poised to take the helm as the top candidate for the BSW (Christian Democratic Union of Rhineland-Palatinate) in the upcoming state election on March 22, 2023.
Hartenfels, a 59-year-old independent member of the state parliament in Mainz, has made a significant leap in his political career. Having previously been a member of the Greens party, he left the party prior to his service as an independent member of the Mainz state parliament.
In early 2024, Hartenfels joined the BSW, marking the first time a BSW member served in a state parliament. Since then, he has been serving as an independent member of the parliament in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The party conference to decide the party leader for the Rhineland-Palatinate state election is scheduled to take place in Kaiserslautern. Ariane Bügel-Darmoul and Vice-Chairman Stephan Falk are expected to run for the second and third spots on the BSW list for the election.
Bügel-Darmoul, the second candidate on the BSW list, was elected with over 90% of the vote. She advocates for comprehensive healthcare and affordable nursing solutions in the state.
It's important to note that Hartenfels's candidacy for the top position in the BSW has not been confirmed by any official election results. The BSW alliance will hold a party conference in Kaiserslautern to finalise the decision.
Hartenfels's service as an independent member of the state parliament in Rhineland-Palatinate continues as the election date approaches. The outcome of the election could see him leading the BSW state list in the upcoming term.
