Navigating Roads in the Manner of Winston Churchill
Land Rover Unveils Exclusive Defender V8 Churchill Edition
Land Rover Classic has paid homage to Sir Winston Churchill with the release of a limited edition Defender V8, named the Churchill Edition. This exclusive collection consists of ten vehicles, each boasting a unique bronze green paint job and historical details reminiscent of Churchill's personal Land Rover Series I.
The Churchill Edition's exterior design is a nod to the past, with its bronze green body, 16-inch steel wheels, and "UKE 80" decals on the front wings, echoing the original vehicle used by Churchill to traverse his estate at Chartwell. Bespoke badges adorn the rear, further accentuating the tribute.
The interior of the Churchill Edition is equally impressive, featuring premium "Bridge of Weir" Semi-Aniline leather in Bottle Green, Ebony Windsor leather for the trim and headlining, and an exclusive dashboard clock with a blue face and red stripe. A modern Classic Infotainment system ensures the vehicle is equipped with modern functions such as navigation, DAB radio, and Bluetooth.
Under the hood, power comes from a 405 horsepower 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine from Land Rover. The chassis has been comprehensively modernized with special Eibach springs, Bilstein dampers, optimized stabilizers, a newly designed ball-bearing steering system, and a powerful braking system from Alcon, ensuring a smooth and powerful ride.
The Churchill Edition is available as a 90 Station Wagon, 110 Station Wagon, and 90 Soft Top. The Soft Top variant features a bespoke canvas roof inspired by the last classic Defender from 2016. The top speed of the Churchill Edition is approximately 171 km/h.
The history of V8 engines in the Land Rover Defender dates back to the Series III Stage 1 V8 of 1979. The Churchill Edition joins a line-up of other Works Bespoke V8 variants such as Islay, Trophy, and Daktari.
The original "UKE 80" Land Rover, which remained at Chartwell until Churchill's death in 1965, is now on display at the Emil Frey Classics Museum in Switzerland. Churchill, who represented the United Kingdom as Prime Minister in the years 1951 and 1955, was presented with his personal Land Rover Series I on his 80th birthday.
The Churchill Edition is a meticulously rebuilt and re-engineered vehicle under the Works Bespoke program, offering ultimate comfort and performance. A single matte black headlamp insert on the front, positioned where the front registration plate would be on Churchill's legendary 4x4, completes the exterior design.
Land Rover Classic's Defender V8 Churchill Edition is not just a vehicle; it's a tribute to an iconic figure and a piece of automotive history. Each of the ten limited-edition vehicles is sure to be a prized possession for its owner.
