Neglected aspect endangering the health system in Germany

Sepsis, often referred to as blood poisoning in layman's terms, is a severe complication of infectious diseases and, unfortunately, its fatal stage in many cases. This complex condition can be triggered by a variety of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses such as influenza, corona, and Ebola, fungi, and single-celled pathogens like malaria.

Although viral infections can lead to sepsis, it's important to note that viral causes account for less than 4% of sepsis cases, according to studies. Viral infections that can potentially trigger sepsis include influenza (flu), measles, hepatitis viruses, and coronaviruses. However, it's worth mentioning that herpes simplex virus reactivation can play a role in certain nervous system infections, which might contribute to the sepsis risk.

It's crucial to understand that sepsis can be fatal, and it's often the fatal stage of infectious diseases. Given its severity, it's essential to be aware of its symptoms and seek immediate medical attention if suspected. By doing so, we can increase the chances of successful treatment and recovery.
