Neighbor on the eastside of Madison takes action to put out a fire in their residence
In the early hours of Tuesday, 2025, a fire broke out in an apartment on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin. The blaze, reported to the Madison Fire Department (MFD) around 12:30 a.m., was located on the fourth floor of an apartment complex on the 700 block of Rethke Avenue.
According to residents, smoke was billowing from the fourth floor. A neighbour, who remains unidentified, bravely took action and used a fire extinguisher to partially extinguish the fire on the stove before the MFD arrived. This quick thinking likely prevented further damage and potential danger.
Upon their arrival, the MFD found smoke in the hallway on the fourth floor. They proceeded to use water to put out the remaining items on the cupboard and cool down the cabinetry. The smoke was later ventilated from the apartment and the hallway.
However, no further details about the cause of the fire or the condition of the residents have been provided. It is known that no one was inside the unit at the time of the fire, according to crews. The apartment has since been turned over to building maintenance.
The Madison Fire Department credits the neighbour for their swift action in extinguishing the fire before the fire brigade arrived. The copyright for this article belongs to our website, and all rights are reserved.
