Nevada clinched the US Little League World Series championship, advancing to face Taiwan in the title game.
In a thrilling semifinal match of the Little League World Series, Nevada secured their spot in the final with an impressive 8-2 victory over Connecticut.
The game started on a high note for Nevada, as Grayson Miranda drove in two runs with a single into right field, kick-starting a three-run first inning. Cutter Ricafort, another key player for the Nevada team, added four more runs in the sixth inning, with a two-run single being a highlight of the inning.
Garrett Gallegos led Nevada to the win, both on the offensive and defensive fronts. He homered in the game and pitched five strong innings, securing eight strikeouts and limiting Connecticut's scoring opportunities. His jam-escaping performance in the fifth inning, where he struck out eight Connecticut batters and managed a rundown, was particularly noteworthy.
Down 4-2 in the fifth inning, Connecticut struggled to score, failing to capitalise on their opportunities.
Meanwhile, Taiwan also secured their place in the final with a 1-0 win against Aruba in the international semifinal. Liu Wei-Heng pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings for Taiwan, while Jayderick Wederfoor limited damage for Aruba with a solid performance. Chen Shi-Hong scored the only run for Taiwan in the third inning.
This sets up an exciting title game between Nevada and Taiwan on Sunday.
