New advisory bodies set up by the ASI
The Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) has announced the establishment of four new advisory boards, aiming to shape the future direction of the advertising specialty industry. The new boards, open to industry distributors, suppliers, decorators, multi-line reps, and educators, were announced on November 2, 2009, during the third annual ASI Power Summit.
Nominations for membership on these boards are currently open, with any ASI member company able to nominate an employee for consideration by the nominating committee. The new board members will be announced in January 2010.
The four new advisory boards will meet regularly to discuss and debate important issues affecting the marketplace. The Marketing, Public Relations, and Industry Research Advisory Board aims to improve marketing and public relations efforts, better educate end-buyers about promotional products, and offer early insights on surveys.
The Technology and Operations Advisory Board is responsible for improving efficiencies through the use of technology, standards, and operations. On the other hand, the Safety and Legislative Advisory Board advises ASI on safety and legislative issues from the distributor, supplier, and end-buyer perspectives.
The new advisory boards will join ASI's existing advisory boards for ASI Show, ASI Education, and ASI's six magazines. The exact focus or specific areas of responsibility for each of the new advisory boards were not specified in the article.
The new advisory boards will be based in Trevose, PA. They will recommend and take action to drive the industry forward, providing insights on a range of issues, with a focus on ensuring the overall continued health and success of the industry.
ASI is the largest media and marketing organization serving the advertising specialty industry, with a membership of over 26,000 distributor firms and supplier firms. The new advisory boards will join forces with ASI in shaping the industry's future.
A vote of all ASI members will be conducted online as part of the process to select board members. New board members will be announced in January 2010 and all boards will meet in-person at least once each year and also via quarterly conference calls.
The ASI Advisory Boards were established to provide a platform for industry leaders to collaborate and guide the industry's development. The persons appointed in 2010 to lead the four new ASI advisory committees were not specified in publicly available information. However, with the new advisory boards in place, the advertising specialty industry is poised for significant growth and innovation.
