New Dubai basketball league establishes route for local players to forge careers in North America
The sports world is abuzz with excitement as Ball Above All Sports (BAA) and North Pole Hoops announce the launch of the BAA NPH Showcase League in Dubai for the autumn 2025-2026 season. This groundbreaking league aligns with the UAE's National Sports Strategy 2031, focusing on nurturing elite talent, strengthening the country's global presence, and preparing Olympic basketball athletes for 2030.
The partnership between BAA and North Pole Hoops aims to provide a direct pathway for prospects in the Middle East to be seen, ranked, and recruited at a level that has never existed before. North Pole Hoops, Canada's leading scouting and exposure organization, brings its proven track record to the table. With 14 out of 25 Canadian players who have reached the NBA having come through their ranks, they are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with.
The BAA NPH Showcase League will offer athletes professional evaluations, verified rankings, and tailored placement support. This will ensure that these prospects are matched with the right North American programs to continue their journey to the next level. The league forms the first stage of NPH's three-tier global development system, with level two continuing with the NPA and NPH Showcase League in Canada.
Level three of NPH's global development system culminates in opportunities at top post-secondary programmes in North America. With International Prep Placement, North Pole Hoops will ensure these prospects are matched with the right North American programs.
The CEO and founder of North Pole Hoops, Hüseyin Doğru, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that Dubai will be the first stop for NPH in the Middle East. Belal Abiad, founder of Ball Above All, shared similar sentiments, stating that the league will provide Middle Eastern athletes with a real stage supported by NPH's proven scouting platform.
It's worth noting that the BAA leagues are approved by the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Basketball Federation.
