New Initiative Announced: Training 49 Youths in Urban Childcare Facilities Under 'KiTa-Nachwuchs' Program
In Aachen, 49 new recruits have embarked on a journey to provide important early childhood education and support to local families. These recruits, who have chosen to become childcare workers or kindergarten teachers, are participating in practice-integrated training (PiA).
PiA, short for "practice-integrated training", means that the staff are deployed in kindergartens from the start. This approach allows trainees to gain hands-on experience as they learn the ropes of caring for the youngest children.
The new recruits are eight vocational trainees who have chosen this path via a two-year vocational school course and a one-year internship. As they gain experience, their practical hours will increase, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles.
André Kaldenbach, head of the city's department of kindergartens and childcare, welcomed the new recruits. He expressed his excitement about the new additions to the team, saying, "We are delighted to have these dedicated individuals joining us. They will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our city's youngest residents."
The new recruits include 10 people who have started as PiA childcare workers, and 31 have started as PiA kindergarten teachers. The proportion of theoretical lessons at the vocational school decreases each year for PiA trainees, ensuring they spend more time gaining practical experience.

As the new recruits settle into their roles, they will work tirelessly to support Aachener families and provide high-quality early childhood education. Their dedication and hard work are sure to make a positive impact on the city's kindergartens and the children who attend them.
