New multi-purpose vessel scheduled for trial run by our organization
On August 31, 2025, a test drive was conducted for the Woerth Fire Department's new multi-purpose boat. State Councilor Tanja Schweiger was among those present for the significant event. The boat, set to be stationed at the Woerth fire department, is a crucial main deployment tool, strengthening fire and disaster protection throughout the district.
The new multi-purpose boat will replace an outdated vessel that had served for 29 years. Its unavailability and high maintenance costs made reliable deployment challenging. Guidelines in the fire service recommend replacing equipment like this every 30 years. Continuing to operate the outdated boat would not have been sensible due to the unavailability and high cost of spare parts.
The acquisition of the new multi-purpose boat was financially supported by funds from the Free State of Bavaria. The boat, capable of undertaking a wide range of tasks, including rescue operations, combating oil spills, and managing flood situations, will operate on the Danube and its tributaries.
The new multi-purpose boat is vital for the safety of the fire department's forces and the population. It is used for drawing barriers into the water during oil incidents, supporting searches for missing persons, conducting evacuations, and combating fires from the water side. The then district fire chief Wolfgang Scheuerer initiated the replacement acquisition in 2024.
The boat will also be used within the framework of supra-regional tasks according to the Bavarian Fire Protection Act. It was officially handed over to the Woerth fire department on August 28, 2025. The new multi-purpose boat is an important gain for the safety of the citizens and will make an important contribution to protecting the population throughout the district.
Despite extensive searches, there are no search results providing information about the takeover of the new multipurpose boats by the volunteer fire brigade association Wörth on August 28, 2025, nor about the current ownership of the boats. However, the arrival of this versatile vessel marks a new era in water safety for the Woerth Fire Department.
