The Hauptzollamt Erfurt, a crucial hub for Germany's customs service, has welcomed 25 new officers as they embark on their careers. The young recruits, consisting of 11 women and 14 men, started their training on September 1, 2025.

Among the new officers, 19 will undergo a comprehensive two-year training program, preparing them for future roles as senior customs secretaries. The remaining six officers will embark on a three-year dual bachelor's degree study in the higher service.

The customs service offers theoretical training for both mid-level and higher service positions. For mid-level officers, their training takes place at the Customs School in Erfurt, while theoretical training for the higher service is conducted at the Federal Higher Education Institute in Münster.

During their practical phases, the officers will gain hands-on experience by working in various departments of the Main Customs Office, customs offices, and in some cases, at the Customs Investigation Office in Dresden.

Interested individuals can apply to the customs service by October 15, 2025, and find more information about the application process, training, and study on the dedicated careers website, www.zoll-karriere.de. For general information about the customs service, visit www.zoll.de.

It is worth noting that around 1,700 young people began their training or dual bachelor's degree studies with the customs service on September 1, 2025, indicating the service's commitment to employing suitable young talent.

As for the leadership role at Hauptzollamt Erfurt starting in September 2026, the customs service has not yet disclosed who will be taking on this responsibility. The current head of the Main Customs Office Erfurt is Dana Schleußinger.
